Importance of Transport Seals

Unknown to most people, more than $10 billion dollars are lost annually to cargo thefts, and that is in the US alone. While companies involved in transporting items take extra measure in order to ensure the safety and security of the items, sometimes it is not enough. It is because of this that most logistics and freight forwarding company make use of such deterrents as transport seals and security tapes.

The use of the transport seal is one of the many ways companies are able to secure items that they need to transport. Aside from keeping the items securely locked in place, it allows the storage or trailer owners to determine who was the last person to have handled the item. It is also one way for logistic companies to assure their clients that nothing gets lost or damaged along the way. All of this typically becomes possible due to the unique design of the seals. In most cases, a security code is indicated in a seal, printed in such a way that tampering with cannot easily be hidden. Some of the most common designs make use of hologram printing.

A transport seal could come either in the form of plastic or metal. With plastic as the main material a transport seal could be in the form of pull tight seals or padlock seals, although most padlock seals are in the form of metal. As a metal seal, some of the most common designs include ball seals, bolt seals, and cable seals.
